Sculpture & drawings “figures”
Sketches of human figures form the core of Bianca Burow’s work. The artist creates delicate, figurine snapshots embedded in life, in movements and encounters. Her ink drawings and paintings capture stylised moments and everyday situations. Minimalist lines bring these scenes to life and stir the imagination.
Burow’s wooden sculptures lend full body to these moments, with the old, hand-crafted nails themselves resembling figures. As a new material and special substrate for her painting, Burow uses planed, sanded oak from her own woodland. The wood is alive, supplying a variegated background for the figures and sometimes a special sense of perspective.
