Covid-19 brought photographer Frauke Bergemann the tranquillity and composure to rethink her photographic art. Sifting through her archive, it struck her how many ideas were hiding there, often merely as photographic sketches. Now she has made catalogues of her journeys to Paris and the United States. The latter documents the city of Omaha/Nebraska, which Bergemann photographed while staying there for different exhibitions.
Moreover, the big Berlin series produced in the years 1999-2005 is being repacked into an updated concept and reshaped as the collage “Washed City” – a reference to the many changes. Her private lockdown also resulted in two entirely new series. These abstract works draw on a digital form of the photogram technique.
