The subject of conserving energy and sustainable building management plays an immensely important role for us at the Sony Center. We are aware of our responsibility and are following the example set by the city of Berlin, in that, until further notice, we are foregoing the illumination of the external façades of all office buildings within the Sony Center. Through this measure, we hope to make a contribution to combatting the challenging overall situation within the energy sector. One exception will be our iconic roof, which will continue to be illuminated - but for a shortened time period. The reason behind this is that it covers the area occupied by a number of our tenants – in particular, tenants within the restaurant sector. Restaurants have endured a difficult time on account of the pandemic, and as such, we would like to support them as much as we possibly can. Therefore, we have decided to keep the lights in these areas on for a reduced time during the evening hours, so that catering businesses can continue to serve food on their outdoor terraces until the close of business. For several years now, LED lights have been used to illuminate the roof.
